We all have that one friend who is inseparable from their phone. You know, the one who can't go more than a few minutes without checking their social media accounts or texting their significant other. While it may seem like they're addicted to their phone, there's something to be said for having such a strong relationship with it. Here are four tips to create a great relationship with your phone.

Be mindful of how often you're using your phone and try to set some limits.

Limits are good for human beings because they help us to focus on what's important. When we're constantly checking our phones, we're not giving our full attention to the people and things around us. By setting limits, we're able to focus on what's happening in the present moment and appreciate it more.

We all know how easy it is to get lost in our phones and waste hours scrolling through social media or playing games. By being mindful of your phone usage, you can cut down on the amount of time you're spending staring at a screen and increase your productivity.

Put your phone away when you're with other people - focus on the conversation at hand.

Everyone wants attention, especially if they're talking to you.

When you're with other people, it's important to focus on the conversation at hand. Putting your phone away will show the person that you're interested in what they have to say and that you value their company. You'll likely find that you enjoy your conversations more and build stronger relationships when you're not distracted by your phone.

Use your phone as a tool to improve your life, not escape from it.

Charge your phone in a different room so you're not tempted to use it all the time.

When you charge your phone, especially at night, leave it in another room. Use a digital/analog alarm clock if you need to wake up at a certain time. This method will help you not to rely too much on your phone and give you some time away from it.

Use your phone to its full potential by downloading helpful apps and setting up notifications.

There are a lot of great productivity apps out there that can help you get more out of your day.

  1. Headspace is a great meditation app that gives you a variety of mindfulness activities, from Exercise, stretching, Yoga, and, of course, meditation. I've been subscribed since 2016 and it's one app that I would recommend to everyone.
  2. Notion: whoever knows my YouTube channel, you can find a quite big playlist with tools-tips-tricks to make your digital life easier. I can't explain how good this app can be, but I can focus on 2 points. First, in my opinion, this app is hard to enter but easy to master: when you know the "basic" functions, it's easy to then understand the "harder" ones. Second, you can @today at 15:00 and get a reminder on your mobile about something you need to do. Just that easy.
  3. Any music player with a LoFi playlist will make your Life easier, calmer, and more focused. The "LoFi" live helped me to get through hard times at work and in life, by being more chilled and focused on the tasks at hand.

Phones can be helpful tools when used correctly, but they can also be harmful when we're not mindful of how often we're using them. By following these four tips, you'll be able to create a great relationship with your phone and use it to its full potential.
